More than 80 senior police officers have taken voluntary redundancies as part of the changes to the structure of the Queensland Police Service announced in January.

Police Commissioner Ian Stewart today approved 86 requests from commissioned officers to leave the force.

“I acknowledge that we are losing not only colleagues but friends, mentors and confidants,” Commissioner Stewart said.

“While their departure from the Service will result in a loss of many years of experience and corporate knowledge, the subsequent renewal will provide significant opportunities for the QPS and the community we serve.

“I look forward to the opportunity of personally thanking each of the 86 officers on your behalf. I wish them and their loved ones all the best for the future.”
