Wondai Kindergarten hosted a meet’n’greet this evening to allow parents to mingle and to provide an update on the changes happening at the kindy.
Committee president Jane Iszlaub welcomed the guests, which included a representative, Fleur Cossey, from the new governing body, The Gowrie (Qld).
Jane said the committee had decided to approach The Gowrie after they decided their previous structure was no longer suiting their needs.
“We have just clicked with The Gowrie,” Jane said.
“We have received such amazing support from them over the past six or so months.”
Jane outlined some of the other changes at the kindergarten. These included renovations to the main building that will raise the access level for easier entry, create a new, private office space and replace the flooring.
The old bathroom will be removed and replaced with an all-abilities toilet and new wash basins.
Outside, there’ll be new front fencing as well as new shed erected out the back. The playground will be resurfaced with synthetic grass and a softfall surface will be added under the playground equipment. A sensory garden and chook pen will also be created.
Jane said the South Burnett Regional Council had given the kindy amazing support over the past few years and this had continued with council waiving the fees for the kindy’s new road signs.
Guest speakers at the meet’n’greet included South Burnett Regional Council’s Healthy Communities Co-Ordinator, Kerry Oldfield, who distributed information kits about the healthy activities taking place in the Wondai area for adults, as well as information about healthy snacks and healthy lunchboxes.
Cr Cheryl Dalton spoke about the $140,000 Wondai Village Green Stage 1 which will get underway within a few weeks as part of a transformation of Coronation Park.
Cr Dalton said the council was also looking at developing more areas in Wondai to make the town more family-friendly.
She praised the kindy commitee for what it had achieved.
“It’s so good to see the Wondai Kindy prospering again,” Cr Dalton said. “I have had a long association with it and it is great to see it going ahead.”
