St Mary’s Catholic College in Kingaroy may be a small school, but six of its students have made South West Queensland Country Futsal teams.

Chris McCarthy, Pacey Clegg, Robert Veivers, Bao Truong, Clare Adcock and Stephanie Mumford will now travel to Sydney to compete in the Australian titles during the second week of September holidays.

Coach Wade Toms said the achievements of the students were particularly outstanding, as four of them had not played futsal before this competition.

Selectors told Mr Toms that they were very impressed with the teamwork and ability of all the St Mary’s teams.

St Mary’s U13 team will make up the majority of the U13 South West Queensland Country side.

Year 8 student Clare Adcock made the Girls Open team competing against 18-year-old students from other schools across the State.

College Principal Mr Michael Nayler said he was extremely proud of his students’ achievements and thanked Mr Toms for promoting futsal at St Mary’s.
