A fire investigation unit is on site this morning to determine the cause of a blaze which destroyed a home in Blackbutt in the early hours of this morning.
The highset Queenslander, in Douglas Street, was well alight when fire crews arrived on the scene at 1:25am.
Three urban units responded to a 000 call from a passerby who spotted smoke issuing from one of the windows of the house.
An Emergency Services spokesman said the fire was under control at 2:15am but the three-bedroom wooden building had sustained major damage.
It is believed the property was vacant at the time.
UPDATE 7:20pm: A police spokesman said police were treating the fire as suspicious and investigations were continuing.
