More than 1200 grant applications – totalling more than $6 million – have been processed by QRAA in the wake of the Australia Day weekend floods.

The grants have been provided to primary producers, small businesses and non-profit organisations in nominated shires throughout Queensland.

“In the early stages of recovery most applications received are for immediate clean-up and recovery,” Agriculture Minister Mr John McVeigh said.

“We expect demand for Natural Disaster Assistance concessional loans and Exceptional Disaster Assistance loan and grant packages to increase as producers and businesses fully determine the financial impacts and start planning long-term recovery projects.”

Those directly impacted by the disaster event have been encouraged NOT to self-assess their eligibility.

They should contact QRAA on 1800-623-946 to discuss the assistance measures available for them.
