Kingaroy Police are urging residents not to leave clues that their homes may be unattended over the school holidays.
“When you go on holidays, don’t leave any clues that will tempt an intruder,” a spokesman said.
Remember to:
- Lock all doors and secure windows
- Ask your neighbours to watch for visitors but not to tell visitors you are away
- Leave on an interior light or put in a timer for lights to come on and go off
- Arrange a friend or neighbour to mow the lawn, water plants and collect any mail or deliveries of milk, newspapers or advertising material
- Ask a neighbour to park their car in your driveway at odd times
- Ask neighbours to contact police if they notice anything suspicious
Free copies of a “Crime Prevention Tips” brochure are available at Kingaroy Police Station.
