Swimmers from across the South Burnett converged on the Kingaroy Aquatic Centre on Sunday to compete in the South Burnett Championships, the last regional swimming carnival of the season.

Inter-club rivalry and competition was high across the whole day’s events, with some close finishes resulting in excited calls from the crowd of parents and friends.

Kingaroy Swimming Club finished the season on a strong stroke, taking out nine of the 18 Aged Championships.

Aged Champions for the day were:

  • Girls 8 Years – Dana Gronbach – Kingaroy Swimming Club
  • Girls 9 Years – Davina Whitfield – Nanango Swimming Club
  • Boys 9 Years – Toby Street – Goomeri Swimming Club
  • Girls 10 Years – Shikira–Lee Matheson – Nanango Swimming Club
  • Boys 10 Years – Joshua Gronbach – Kingaroy Swimming Club
  • Girls 11 Years – Emily Hutton – Kingaroy Swimming Club
  • Boys 11 Years – Zac Hetherington – Wondai Swimming Club
  • Girls 12 Years – Clare Perrett – Nanango Swimming Club
  • Boys 12 Years – Lachlan Hurt – Kingaroy Swimming Club
  • Girls 13 Years – Sophie Stone – Nanango Swimming Club
  • Boys 13 Years – Nathanial Zerner – Murgon Swimming Club

Kingaroy Swimming Club will wind up their season with their Annual Presentation night at the Taabinga State School Sports Hall on April 20.
