Local peanut grower Carl Rackemann, who stood for Katter’s Australian Party at the last State Election, has been appointed spokesman for Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry in the party’s new Queensland Shadow Cabinet.
The KAP Shadow Cabinet was announced at 1:00pm today. It is made up of aspiring MPs because the party holds just three seats in State Parliament.
“Basically what we are doing is providing people to be spokesmen or women for all the portfolios,” Mr Rackemann said today.
He said it was too much to expect just three MPs to be across every issue in every portfolio.
“I think it is a good initiative. It shows people that Katter’s Australian Party is very serious about what we are trying to achieve,” he said.
Mr Rackemann said he was looking forward to being the party’s Agriculture spokesman.
The positions are all unpaid.
