The proposed new Blackbutt residential development in Pine Street (Map: Bing)

February 20, 2013

Blackbutt may get several hundred new residents and some new, sealed roads after the South Burnett Regional Council today approved an application to reconfigure a single Pine Street lot into 123 lots plus parkland.

If the residential development proceeds, the section of Pine Street next to the development would be kerbed and sealed.

Margaret Street would also be extended eastwards along the common property boundary shared between the Pine Street lot and 23 George Street.

The SBRC approved the proposal subject to a list of conditions that include landscaping the site by establishing vegetation buffers and reserves along two sides; constructing, kerbing and sealing all internal roads, and providing water and reticulated sewerage services to each of the new lots.

Blackbutt’s water supply scheme and sewerage system would also have their infrastructure upgraded through a cash contribution from the developer in recognition of the extra demands the new lots would put on both systems.

The project was first put to the Council in 2010 and today’s approval modified some of the conditions the Council had set in August that year.

The approval granted today has to be acted on within eight years or it will lapse.
