Troy Schultz, Michael Sloan and Thomas Carroll give the Kingaroy Soccer Fields a final check over this evening in preparation for the two-day carnival

February 22, 2013

The weather gods smiled on Kingaroy on Friday  … the rain held off and the sun shone brightly, meaning the huge Evolution Solar South Burnett Football Sevens Carnival is all set to kick off this weekend.

The annual carnival always brings a huge boost to the local economy with players travelling from all over southern Queensland, and more importantly, staying the night.

Forty-five teams are on their way for the two-day carnival, which has been a highlight of the Queensland soccer calendar for more than 30 years.

Games will be played on three seven-a-side fields marked out on the Kingaroy Senior Soccer Club grounds in Oliver Bond Street.

Organisers have been carefully preparing the fields during the week to make sure they’re in top condition for the weekend’s games.

Play will start at 9:40am on Saturday and 8:00am on Sunday.

The finals will be played on Sunday afternoon: 2:30pm for the women’s and Over 35s, and 3:00pm for the men’s.

Spectators are more than welcome to come along and watch the fun.

A canteen, bar and barbecue will be operating on both Saturday and Sunday.
