Police are warning that if you drink and drive near Kilkivan, you will get caught.

In 2012, Kilkivan police performed more than 4700 random breath tests in the district.

This was in response to a more than doubling of total drink-driving offences detected in the area between 2010 and 2011.

Officer-in-charge of Kilkivan Station, Sergeant Rob West, has seen the results of mixing alcohol with driving during his 25 years as a police officer.

“As someone who has seen the devastating effects of drink-driving, I make this pledge to those who live in the Kilkivan Police Division; I will do everything within my power to make your roads safer by ensuring that drink-drivers are detected by police and brought before the courts to be punished,” he said.
