Nanango held on to win by just two runs in their rain-affected A Grade cricket match against the Murgon Crusaders on Saturday.

The Scorpions won the toss and batted first at the Murgon Sportsgounds.

They were bowled out for 129 in the 39th over. Top scorer was Freddy Davies with 67.

Best of the Crusaders’ bowlers were Shane Polzin, 2/8 off eight overs, and James McUtchen, with 2/13 off three overs.

In reply, Crusaders were bowled out for 127. Best batsmen were Jamie Curran (23) and Ivan Harrison (22 n/o).

Scorpions’ bowlers found their mark. Freddy Davies finished with 4/23 from eight overs and Lauren Hume, 3/39 off seven overs.

The match was reduced to 40 overs due to a late start caused by rain on Saturday morning. The other A Grade match scheduled to be played on Saturday, between Warriors and Kingaroy RSL, did not go ahead because of the rain.
