Kingaroy cricketer Holly Ferling has made an impressive debut for Australia, taking two wickets against Pakistan at the ICC Women’s World Cup being played in India.

Ferling improved on the strong start she made in a warm-up match against the West Indies, where she took 1/12 off five overs.

Against Pakistan, she took 2/10 off just three overs, and a dropped catch robbed her of another wicket.

Pakistan were all out for 84. Australia won the game by 91 runs.

Australia are leading their pool in the series, having played three games with no losses.

After bowling Jason Koy for a duck, Nanango’s Brendan Weil was on a hat-trick during the A Grade match in Kingaroy; the new batsman in, Wayne Kelly, successfully defended his wicket

Kingaroy RSL proved too strong for Nanango in their A Grade cricket match played at Lyle Vidler Oval on Saturday.

Kingaroy was bowled out for 271 in the 41st over. Top scorers were David Hosking (122) and Mark Schmidt (71).

Best of the Nanango bowlers was Brendan Weil, who took 6/57 off 8.3 overs.

In reply, Nanango were bowled out for 41.

The Kingaroy bowlers ripped through the Scorpions’ batters. Tony Dugdell finished with 3/6 off seven overs while Darren Geiger took 2/21 off seven overs.

Wondai Wolves took on Kingaroy RSL in a B Grade game played at Taabinga.

Wolves batted first and were 154 after 26 overs.

Topscorers for Wondai were Rory Brown and James Cameron, who both made 35, and Kiall Rowberry (34).

Best of the Kingaroy bowlers were Adam Geiger, 5/56 off eight overs, and L Fairburn 2/30 off six overs.

In reply, RSL was dismissed for 116. Top scorers were Craig Sippel (39) and J Heidrich (37).

Best of the Wondai bowlers were Geoff Wallis, 4/20 off eight overs; Clayton Graham, 2/8 off four overs; and James Cameron, 2/21 off five overs.

Wolves won by 38 runs
