A Cherbourg man charged with “glassing” his former girlfriend on February 4 last year has been cleared by a Kingaroy jury.
The jury took just an hour this morning to return a not guilty verdict after a two-day District Court trial.
The Crown had alleged the woman was struck in the face with a glass after she walked into a bedroom where four people were gathered watching the Indigenous All-Stars rugby league match on TV.
The woman was treated at Cherbourg Hospital for cuts to her face.
However, when she returned to the hospital on March 7 to have a sliver of glass removed, she allegedly told hospital staff a bottle had been thrown at her.
The woman told the court she had been drinking at the time of the alleged incident.
