The mobile breastscreening van at Kingaroy Hospital is definitely up and running, despite all the recent rain.
BreastScreen Queensland Health Promotion Officer Jessica Hobbs said the Bundaberg BreastScreen Clinic has been out of action which may have caused some confusion.
However the mobile breastscreening service in Kingaroy is still operating at Kingaroy Hospital.
She urged women aged 50 to 69 years in the Kingaroy area to take advantage of the free breast cancer screening service before the bus left for another two years.
“The service will be in Kingaroy until mid-February therefore women need to ring and make their appointment as soon as possible,” she said.
“One in 8 Queensland women will develop breast cancer at some point in their life, with 90 per cent of those women having no family history.”
Early detection could save your life. All women aged between 50 and 69 years are strongly encouraged to have a free breast screen every two years. All women over the age of 40 are also eligible to attend.
A doctor’s referral is not required to attend the mobile screening service.
Phone BreastScreen Queensland on 13-20-50 to make an appointment.
