The heavy rain overnight has led to most major roads in the South Burnett region being closed and towns isolated.

Remember … if it’s flooded, FORGET IT!

Conditions are changing rapidly, but here’s a list of some of the major local closures as at 10:00am today:

  • Wide Bay Highway – closed at Goomeri, Kilkivan and Bells Bridge
  • Bunya Highway – closed at Krebs Bridge (Murgon); Dingo Creek (Wondai); Kingaroy (TAFE college); the road is also cut between Kingaroy and Kumbia
  • Burnett Highway – closed north of Nanango
  • Brisbane Valley Highway – closed at Toogoolawah and Esk
  • D’Aguilar Highway – closed at Kilcoy and Kingaroy (near Mitre 10); water also across road at Nanango
  • Kingaroy-Cooyar Road – Oakey Creek bridge closed; large tree across road near Goodger
  • Chinchilla-Wondai Road – Stuart River bridge closed, Boyne River bridge closed
  • Cherbourg Road – closed

Localised flooding has closed multiple back roads in the Booie, Byee, Coverty, Durong, Ellesmere, Goomeri, Kilkivan, Kingaroy, Kumbia, Murgon, Nanango, Redgate, Tansey, Wondai and Yarraman areas.

There are a number of reports of large washouts on roads in the Brigooda, Coolabunia and Kilkivan areas.

Don’t forget flood waters can hide washouts. Again … if it’s flooded, FORGET IT!
