Sunshine Coast artist and tutor Don Milner travelled to Kingaroy at the weekend to lead a two-day workshop for a dozen local artists.
The workshop, funded by the Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF), was organised by local artist Cherry Carroll and held at the CWA Supper Room in Kingaroy Street.
Cherry said Don had been “very brave” in offering to lead a workshop in all media and with no set subjects.
The artists taking part were working in watercolours, acrylics, oils, charcoal and pastels on everything from landscapes to portraits.
Don is a very experienced artist who has held multiple exhibitions over the past 20 years.
He’s probably best known for his landscapes and seascapes, but he also does portraits that attempt the capture the essence of the people of the Australian outback.
He works in multiple media: acrylic, oils, charcoal, pastel and gouache.
“The choice of medium doesn’t matter. Capturing the subject, and its true spirit and essence, is of paramount consideration,” he said.
