Due to the recent floods, the Lake Boondooma Camping and Recreation Area will be closed until Tuesday, February 12.
South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann said today there had been unprecedented flooding at the dam but a clean-up would be commencing immediately.
A council spokesman said the clean-up was anticipated to take a couple of weeks.
“If you are thinking of heading to the dam in February, it is recommended that you contact the Lake Boondooma Dam managers on (07) 4168-9694 to confirm opening details,” the spokesman said.
Three days ago the Boondooma Dam Fish Stocking and Management Association announced they would be postponing this year’s Boondooma Dam Yellowbelly Fishing Competition – originally planned for February 9 and 10 – because of substantial damage to the Dam’s roads and infrastructure.
