The weather has forced the South Burnett Speedway Club to cancel its three-day Kings Royal Australia Day Weekend meeting.

The club announced the cancellation on their website and Facebook page at 8:30am today.

“It’s with extreme sadness and disappointment that the South Burnett Speedway club is faced with no other option but to cancel the Hams Crane Hire Modified Production Kings Royal,” a club spokesman said.

“Obviously the weather is terrible and with the forecast of plenty more rain to come, the club has decided to make an early call to cancel the event so everyone can stay home or return home and batten down the hatches for the wild weather that is forecast to hit the region over the coming days.

“This was shaping up to be the biggest event the division and Kingaroy has ever seen and after 18 months of planning, the weather has beaten us.

“We sincerely feel terrible for everyone, but thank you all for your support in the Hams Crane Hire Kings Royal.

“There will be no-reschedule of this event due to all the racing that is on in the coming months, so the official winner of the first ever Kings Royal will be rain.”
