Did you know there’s a social group based in the South Burnett just for “singles, young ladies and youthful gentlemen” over the age of 50 and under the age of 70?
The Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group, co-ordinated by Kathryn Spencer, organises hosted events which are advertised on the Lively50sPlus website and southburnett.com.au’s Daily Events calendar.
The group started about 12 months ago after Kathryn shifted to the Wondai area from the Sunshine Coast.
She had been been a member of the Lively50sPlus site over there – and had started a successful group in Buderim – so she was keen to kick off something similar in the South Burnett.
As well as special events – their Christmas karaoke break-up party at the Tingoora Hotel attracted 30 people – the Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group also holds regular “get to know you” events such as tea and cake every Tuesday morning from 10:00am at Dimities Cottage Restaurant in Wondai.
And soon they will be holding social dinners at the Fancy Friday Feasts which are beginning soon at Dimities.
“We’ll have a table at the first FFF on February 1, and also for February 22 and March 22,” Kathryn said.
“This will be an a la carte dinner from a menu. Cost is a menu price (BYO) and since these dinners are expected to be a sell-out, bookings are a must.”
Kathryn said the Lively 50s & 60s Singles Social Group was the “best” kind of group to belong to … they have no membership fees, no agendas and no meetings. And you only have to attend the events that you want to.
“We just want to have fun,” she said.
People from all over the South Burnett, including Blackbutt, Yarraman and Nanango, have attended their events.
Members join up for free on the Lively50sPlus website; they can also volunteer to host their own events which are publicised on the site for free. Members also receive a weekly newsletter of upcoming events.
Other events hosted by Lively50sPlus members coming up soon include tenpin bowling tomorrow, Australia Day in Coronation Park, Wondai; and Australia Day at Boondooma Homestead.
