Murgon’s Damien Sippel hits the ball to the boundary during Day 2 of the match against Warriors; he top-scored for Crusaders with 27

Warriors have won their two-day match against Murgon Crusaders outright after resuming their first innings with a commanding 100-run lead on Saturday at Murgon Showgrounds.

Resuming at 5/224 they were bowled out for 275; top scorers were Andrew Askin (58) and Tom Webster (44).

Crusaders’ best bowlers were Jamie Curran 2/5 and James McUtchen 2/33.

Crusaders, who made 124 in their first innings, could only make two runs more in their second, leaving them 25 runs shy of the Warriors’ first innings total.

Top scorers for Murgon batsmen were Chris Heness and Damien Sippel who both made 27.

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Jimmy Dundas 3/24 and Mitch Bunker 3/30.

Warriors won by an innings and 25 runs.

Shane Laherty on his way to 41 for Kumbia on Saturday

Kumbia Rattlers batted first in their B Grade match at Murgon on Saturday, making 8/171 off their 40 overs, but it wasn’t enough to stop the Murgon Diggers.

Best of the Kumbia batsmen were Shane Laherty (41), Russell Holland (30 n/o) and Bevan Fawcett (15).

Murgon bowlers were Tavis Hartwig 2/29 off eight overs; Ryan Sommerfeld 1/21 off five; Gabe Crane 1/17 off three;  Nathan Nixon, 1/25 off eight; Steven Alexander 2/22 off seven; and Rodney Anderson 1/24 off six.

In reply, Diggers reached their target after just 31 overs:  4/177.

Top scorers for Murgon were Rodney Anderson (54), Steven Alexander (36 n/o) and Troy Sander (31). Ryan Sommerfeld was 17 n/o.

Kumbia bowlers were Clayton Crawford 1/28 off two overs; Bevan Fawcett 1/44 off eight overs; Tim Laherty 1/20 off three overs and Brian Walters 1/13 off six overs.

Bevon Fawcett scored a handy 15 runs for the Rattlers

Wondai Wolves defeated Warriors in their B grade match on Saturday.

Wolves were 9/245 after 40 overs with Geoff Wallis top scoring with 83. Cam Donohue (36) and R Brown (29) also made good starts.

Best of the Warriors’ bowlers were Brodie Dionysius 3/34 off eight overs and Hayden Wieck 2/17 off four overs.

In reply, Warriors were dismissed for 103.

Peter Sorensen made 21, Trevor Hansen was 19 n/o and Steve Price (16).

Best of the Wolves’ bowlers were Matt Stumer 3/30 off five overs and Troy Anderson 2/32 off five overs.

Wolves won by 142 runs.
