A new Southern Queensland Country tourism marketing campaign valued at $135,000 is encouraging Brisbane families to discover a relaxing summer escape in the South Burnett before the end of the school holidays.

CEO Mary-Clare Power said the campaign was showcasing the Southern Queensland Country region to potential holidaymakers seeking an alternative to summer crowds and the beach.

“Bringing together the regions of Toowoomba, Western Downs, South Burnett, Warwick and surrounds and Granite Belt, Southern Queensland Country is renowned as Queensland’s premier country getaway destination,” Ms Power said.

The campaign is running in partnership with Tourism and Events Queensland and 12 industry partners and aims to entice city dwellers to take a respite from the stresses of urban life.

It will run until mid-February and include print, radio and online coverage.

“Several operators are offering great deals, including stay for three nights and pay for two, inclusive meals and free entry offers to attractions,” Ms Power said.

“The campaign entices families to relax and enjoy the natural attributes, national parks and freshwater creeks and waterways that Southern Queensland Country is renowned for.”
