An extra speech-language pathologist will be based at Kingaroy State School for the 2013 school year.

Member for Nanango, Deb Frecklington MP today welcomed the announcement that local school students would benefit from an additional part time speech-language pathologist next year.

“The Newman Government is investing $10.3 million over four years to help Queensland students with speech and language difficulties excel and reach their full potential,” Mrs Frecklington said.

“Nanango electorate students will benefit from the additional speech-language pathologist, who will be based at Kingaroy State School and provide visiting services to other schools in the region as well.

“Enrolments and individual student needs were taken into consideration when Kingaroy State School was identified as a base for the new speech pathologist.

“This is wonderful news for Kingaroy families, especially those who have children with delayed oral language skills.”

Mrs Frecklington said there would be a total of 30 additional speech-language pathologists stationed in Queensland schools next year.

“The additional speech-language pathologists will be based in 27 state schools and special schools across Queensland,” she said.
