Bushwalking inspires watercolourist  Jillian Crick, the latest Artist In Focus to be featured at the Bunya Forest Gallery and Tearoom on the Bunya Mountains.

Jillian’s exhibition opened on Saturday and will run until the end of January.

She believes in the motto “less is better” which means her paintings are often minimalist and somewhat abstract, however they are all inspired by the world around her.

“I have a need to capture the feeling of the landscape rather than its physical actuality,” Jillian said.

“Misty mountains and vast distances all inspire me to be a conduit to reveal their mystery and beauty.”

Jillian mainly works in watercolours but recently has become interested in oils and acrylics and some of these works will also be on display.

She is exploring how the unique characteristics of each medium showcase the beauty and power she experiences in the landscape.

The Bunya Forest Gallery is open daily from 10:00am to 4:00pm.
