A 22-year-old barmaid pleaded guilty in Kingaroy Magistrates Court today to two charges of supplying methylamphetamine.

Police prosecutor Sgt Wayne Bushell said Shianne Stacey Melville twice sold two “points” of methylamphetamine (0.2g), the first time for $200 and the second time for $160.

She admitted exchanging the drugs for cash at a coffee shop by swapping cigarette packets.

Melville also pleaded guilty to possessing drug utensils (a light bulb) and possessing tainted property (a mobile phone).

Solicitor Elizabeth Daniels, for Melville, said her client realised it had been “a really stupid thing to”. She said she was only doing it for a friend and had received no financial benefit from her behaviour.

“This has been a massive wake-up call,” Ms Daniels said.

Magistrate Mark Bucknall said they were very serious offences particularly because of the type of drug involved. He said a clear message needed to be sent to people who traded in drugs, particularly insidious drugs such as methylamphetamine.

Melville was released on 12 months probation; convictions were recorded.

A prisoner in custody has pleaded guilty to receiving tainted property, ie two spotlights which had been stolen from a Nissan 4WD parked in a Nanango caravan park.

The court was told Brendon John Jackson was sentenced on June 21 to a term of imprisonment on other matters. The receiving charge was not dealt with at the time because it had been accompanied by another charge which had subsequently been withdrawn.

Magistrate Bucknall recorded a conviction but imposed no further punishment.
