Mayor Wayne Kratzmann presents the “key to the door” to the Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association Management Committee, watched by Association president Jeff Connor, Cr Debra Palmer and Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington

South Burnett Regional Council officially handed over the keys of the Scott Haven Units in Blackbutt to the Blackbutt and Benarkin Aged Care Association Management Committee on Monday.

Council has entered into an arrangement that will see the units managed locally.

“The association approached Council about managing the units as they felt they could assist the community more if they were managing the facility. Ultimately they have said they would like to construct an aged care facility on land they already own,” Cr Debra Palmer said.

Association president Jeff Connor said the group had plans to do some maintenance on the current units and in the future, build extra units on the allotment behind the building.

“This is a great outcome for the community of Blackbutt and Benarkin and it is great to be a part of such a proactive association working in partnership with Council for the benefit of the community,” Mr Connor said.
