The Salvation Army and various Kingaroy community groups are working together again this year to host a special festive lunch for more than 100 local residents on Christmas Day.

The lunch will be held on December 25 at the Kingaroy Senior Citizens Centre (opposite SupaIGA) in Kingaroy Street.

Doors will open at 11:30am and the meal will be served at 12:30pm.

South Burnett CTC, service clubs such as Lions, Rotary and Quota, and charity and welfare groups are helping to make the day a reality alongside a small group of volunteers.

Salvation Army Captain Carolyn Kerr said the lunch – which will feature all the traditional Christmas trimmings – would be free but participants would be asked to make a small donation if they felt able to assist.

“There’s always people who are lonely on Christmas Day or for some reason feel they cannot celebrate at home,” she said.

“This is an opportunity for everyone to enjoy a good meal, chat with others and feel a bit more festive.”

Both individuals and families are invited to attend, but bookings are necessary so that catering can be assessed.

Children are also more than welcome!

Transport can also be arranged but this must also be requested when booking.

If you would like to attend the South Burnett Community Christmas Lunch, please ring CTC on (07) 4162-9000 and leave your details.

If you’d like to volunteer on the day or make any donations of cash or foodstuffs, please contact Captain Kerr at the Salvation Army on (07) 4162-5246.
