Having all 19 Cabinet Ministers in one place provides a perfect opportunity for protest groups to make a point, which is exactly what happened in Kingaroy this evening.
A small group of protesters gathered quietly with placards and flags on the footpath outside tonight’s Civic Reception for visiting MPs in Glendon Street.
On the other side of the forecourt a small group of police watched politely.
Topics covered included uranium mining, job losses, WorkCover and the transfer of the May Day holiday to October.
The protesters, who represented several unions and The Greens, are expected to return tomorrow morning to greet the MPs as they gather for their Cabinet meeting.
There have also been reports that nurses will join the protest tomorrow, raising the issue of the closure of Kingaroy’s Farrhome aged care unit.
