Two Kingaroy netballers have been selected to play for the Wide Bay Thundercats in the Queensland State Netball League competition after trials held at Bundaberg and Hervey Bay.

Sixteen players from across the Wide Bay region were invited to Bundaberg for high-intensity trials on Saturday to compete for a position in the team.

Holly Ferling, a Year 11 student at Kingaroy State High School and a Queensland representative cricketer, was named in the 12-woman squad alongside Libby Daniels, the only Thundercat returning from last season.

Ferling was named Best & Fairest Open Netballer at the recent Kingaroy State High School sports awards night and has previously represented both the South Burnett and Wide Bay in netball.

The Thundercats were the wooden spooners in the 2012 competition, losing 11 straight games, but coach Kerianne Farrelly is confident her new squad of players will make an impression in 2013.

The 2013 Thundercats squad are:

Casey Daniel (Bundaberg)
Krystal Rouvray  (Bundaberg)
Corinne Crook (Maryborough)
Libby Daniels (Kingaroy)
Holly Ferling (Kingaroy)
Renea Burchell (Hervey Bay)
Renee Searle (Hervey Bay)
Katrina Tate (Hervey Bay)
Kate McCarthy (Hervey Bay)
Samantha Dunster (Hervey Bay)
Reserves: Meg Krahn and Jodi Zagami (Hervey Bay)
