Celebrated Hivesville painter Shannus O’Sullivan will be the featured artist for December and January at the Wondai Regional Art Gallery.

Shannus has been awarded over 120 prizes and awards. His work is in collections in Australia, America, Asia, England and Germany.

“Shannus is the quintessential genre painter,” gallery curator Elaine Madill said.

“His evocative paintings draw from the broad tapestry of everyday Australian life. From the frolicking masses of our coastal beaches to the lonely figure isolated and dwarfed by the uncompromising vastness of the outback, his work explores the relationship that Australians have with their environment and each other, whilst capturing the bittersweet elements of our culture.”

In the front gallery,”The Three Hot Chicks” will have a display of works in various media entitled “The Heat Is On”. Val Usher works with stain glass, Betty Desovich does Encaustic art and Gwen Olm does pyrography.

In the third gallery, Neville and Barbara Logan from the Gold Coast will be showing watercolours and fabric collage.

The Home Schooling Group will be featured in Kidz Corner.

The exhibitions will be officially opened on Friday, December 7, from 6:00pm. Cost is $5.00 which includes supper and punch. Wines will be available from Bellbird Wines.
