Smoke and flames rise from the Gordonbrook fire this afternoon

A fire burning in scrubland on Wicks Road at Gordonbrook this afternoon has burned out about 40ha and cast a pall of smoke over Kingaroy.

Ten rural fire brigade units and four urban crews are fighting the fire, which broke out about 12:30pm.

An Emergency Services spokesman said the firefighters were working to establish containment lines using a grader.

No property was currently under threat, however residents should ring 000 if the situation changes and they believe they may be at risk.

Department of Environment and Resource Management staff are on the scene of a fire on Dangore Mountain Road at Dangore; this fire is believed to be burning in the Dangore State Forest.

Rural crews are also on the site of fires at McPhee Road, Durong, which started about 4:00pm, and Evans Road, Ballogie.
