Concerned neighbours called 000 when they spotted flames and smoke coming from a property on Malar Road at Booie on Saturday night.
Four fire crews responded to the call at 6:15pm and found a fire burning alongside a shed, a caravan and some machinery near a house.
However the firefighters discovered the landowner had just decided to burn off rubbish.
They extinguished the fire.
