Children’s author and illustrator John Danalis will be coming to Nanango Library on Saturday (November 10) to help celebrate the Reading Bug Project.
Bookings are essential, as there are only 30 places available in each of the three workshops.
John has been writing and illustrating for children and young adults for 10 years. His works include picture books, chapter books and non-fiction.
Workshop 1, from 10:30am-11:30am is entitled “A sharp pin and a fat dog’s bum”. In this session, primary school students will participate in a “story slam”.
Workshop 2, from 11:45am-12:45pm, will examine book cover design in a session aimed at primary school readers.
Workshop 3, from 1:00pm-2:00pm, is aimed at adults, upper primary and secondary students. It is entitled “Riding the Black Cockatoo” and tells John’s journey and experiences as he wrote this book. It tells the story of a girl’s return to country and the healing power of true reconciliation. Within weeks of its publication, the book it was chosen as a set text for students in Britain.
