A fire which broke out yesterday morning at Booubyjan is still burning in inaccessible country but does not pose a risk to property.

An Emergency Services spokesman said fire services were initially called to the fire, near the Burnett Highway, at 9:30am yesterday.

A tractor was used to cut firebreaks and by 6:00pm, it was believed the fire was under control.

However this morning, the fire broke through the containment about 10:00am and fire crews were recalled to the scene.

At 4:00pm, the fire was being allowed to burn in inaccessible country while firecrews patrolled the perimeter.

Update October 27:  The fire continues to burn but is back within containment lines.  Fire crews used a grader to carve out additional firebreaks today and left the scene at 4:50pm.
