Police are appealing for information from members of the public in relation to deliberately lit grass fires in the Manumbar area.

Between October 19-22, a number of suspicious fires  caused considerable damage to valuable grazing pastures.

Officer-in-Charge of the Kingaroy Stock Investigation Squad Detective Sergeant Mark Ferling said the fires had potential to not only cause a substantial amount of damage but could easily claim the lives of innocent people.

“We are investigating the possible link between the fires and a number of suspicious cars seen in the area. At this time there have been no injuries or structural property damage reported to police,” he said.

Anyone with information is urged to contact the Kingaroy Stock Squad on (07) 4160-4900 or Crime Stoppers on 1800-333-000.
