The chance of uranium mining anywhere in the South Burnett is negligible
October 22, 2012

Today’s decision by the State Government to overturn a long-standing ban on uranium mining is expected to have little effect on the South Burnett.

About four years ago, two related companies, Eastern Uranium and Ridge Exploration, were prospecting for uranium in an area around Proston and Durong.

However a company spokesman told southburnett.com.au today these permits had been “let go”.

Another industry source said the global financial crisis had derailed the project – but not before enough samples had been taken to indicate that there was little reason to proceed anyway.

The chances of a uranium mine anywhere in the South Burnett were “nil”.
