A Kumbia man has secured a job as an accountant in Pittsworth after graduating earlier this month from the University of the Sunshine Coast.
Damien Ryke, 21, earned a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting) and is now working as a graduate accountant for Hooper Accountants.
“My studies at USC are proving to be really useful in my job and have helped me to adapt a lot quicker to work than I otherwise would have,” Damien said.
Having come from a small community, Damien said he chose to study at USC because of its size and because of the lifestyle the Sunshine Coast offered.
“The campus was small, which made it easier for me to adjust to university life,” he said.
“There was a real community feel at the university, which meant being able to know who your classmates were. I found the lecturers and tutors were extremely helpful and I made heaps of good friends.”
Damien, who graduated in 2008 from St Mary’s Catholic College, said he was looking forward to an exciting career in accountancy.
“I plan to work my way up in the industry and see where it takes me,” he said.
