The St Mary’s Catholic College String Ensemble recently visited the Orana Lutheran Aged Care Complex to perform a concert for residents.

The members of the ensemble, who range in age from 10 to 17, are Liana Haak and Bridget McCarron (violin), Rory Browne and Sara Vinci (viola) and Aiden Raabe and Hannah Depper (cello).

The Orana residents were treated to works ranging from Classical, Baroque and Renaissance canons through to a recently composed Australian repertoire.

The ensemble also experimented with different formats, performing duets, trios and quartets.

The Orana concert followed a highly successful performance at the school’s “Rock on Stage” event in July.

Conductor Michael Scanlan said he was pleased with the Ensemble’s performance and its development throughout the year.

“It is great to see so many enthusiastic string players who are willing to form an ensemble and perform at various venues,” he said.

“It’s also fantastic for the people of the South Burnett region to see their younger members proudly demonstrating and sharing their talents in such a public way.”
