The South Burnett’s U19 representative team travelled to Gympie on Sunday for their first game of fixtures for 2012.

After winning the toss and electing to bat, South Burnett were bowled out for 109.

Best of the Gympie bowlers was Tom Manthey who took 3/24 off seven overs.

Lehman Brunjes top scored for the South Burnett with 48, with Tavis Hartwig, Keaghan Cronin and BJ Grant also getting starts.

Gympie achieved the target in 18 overs with the loss of just two wickets. Top scorers for Gympie were Hayden Mitchell, 52, and Brendan Mahaffey, 23 n/o.

Tavis Hartwig 1/20 and Keaghan Cronin 1/21 took the two wickets.

The next U19s game will be played in Kingaroy at Lyle Vidler Oval on Sunday, November 18, against Bundaberg

Kingaroy RSL Services were too good for Kumbia in their B Grade T20 match in Kingaroy 

T20 Competition

The second round of the South Burnett pre-season T20 competition was played at Murgon and Kingaroy on Saturday.

Unfortunately, the B Grade Nanango side has been forced to withdraw from the 2012-13 cricket competition because of a lack of players.

There will now be four teams contesting the A Grade and eight teams contesting the B Grade.

  • Murgon Crusaders v Warriors (at Murgon)

Murgon batted first, making 7/134 from 20 overs. Jason Webber topscored with 38 and Damien Sippel, 36. Warriors’ best bowlers were Luke Smith 2/10 from two overs and Chris Bunker 2/22 from four overs. In reply, Warriors were all out for 94 with Tim Linanne making 40 and Shane Gray 18.

Crusaders’ best bowlers were Bernard Hopkins 3/21 from four overs, Jason Webber 3/7 from two overs and Ashley Sippel 2/11 from three overs.

  • Nanango v Kingaroy RSL (at Murgon)

Kingaroy RSL forfeited.

B Grade Results

  • Warriors v Barambah (at Kingaroy)

Barambah 200 defeated Warriors 7/144. Top scorers for Barambah were D Moses 80 and Gordon Fisher 61 /no. Warriors bowling: Peter Sorensen 1/32, Kiran Badiger 1/ 18. Warriors’ batting: Hayden Wieck 52, Brayden Clark 50. Barambah bowling: Errol Simpson 2/12

  •  Kumbia v Kingaroy RSL (at Kingaroy)

Kingaroy RSL Services B grade beat Kumbia by seven runs and now go into the semi-final against Wondai at Lyle Vidler Oval next Friday night at 6:30pm. Graeme Badrick scored 37 for Kingaroy RSL while Roger Hoare took 3/14. Caylan Brown took 3/20 off four overs for Kingaroy RSL.
