June McCotter

October 14, 2012

Former Wondai Art Gallery acquisitive art prize winner June McCotter is returning to the galley in November.

June’s works are landscapes that also examine how life mirrors nature’s cycles, moving through times of plenty and drought.

She will be accompanied by two other artists, also from the Sunshine Coast.

Sarah Lawson – a descendant of the famous poet Henry Lawson – comes from an artistic background, with both parents being artists, but she has more than 20 years’ experience in her own right. She works in oils, acrylics and silk.

Patti Henderson, from Palmwoods, works in pencil, charcoal, watercolour, spinning, weaving and macramé.

The fourth featured artist is Lyla McLaren, a driller’s cook who loves making cards.

“Some of my cards are made from inserts of beer cartons. The boys love them. They have become standard issue on the rig. I also paint seascapes when I am on leave,” she said.

The grandchildren of the exhibiting artists will be featured in Kidz Korner.

The opening will be held from 6:00pm on November 2. Cost is $5. Wine will be on sale from Captains Paddock.
