Perfect fire weather – hot temperatures, windy conditions and low humidity – kept rural and urban brigades busy across the South Burnett today.
A large grass fire burning on Hayne Kite Millar Road in Blackbutt flared up again this afternoon after initially being been brought under control yesterday.
Fire crews were originally called to the fire at 3:30pm yesterday afternoon and had it under control by 6:30pm.
Two rural fire brigade crews remained on the scene overnight to monitor the situation.
However today’s hot weather led to the fire flaring up and a number of local residents calling 000.
More fire crews were called back but no structures were threatened.
An Emergency Services spokesman said the fire is still burning but the number of fire crews in attendance has been scaled back.
