A South Burnett Regional Council gravel truck sparked a small grass fire on the Bunya Highway yesterday morning at Wooroolin.

The incident happened at the Wellers Road intersection north of the town.

A council spokesman said the truck had pulled over for a short time near a gravel pit when its exhaust apparently started the fire.

The driver escaped from the cab safely.

Four fire crews were called at 9:42am to extinguish the blaze.

An Emergency Services spokesman said the truck fire was under control by 10:10am and the grass fire was controlled by 10:30am.

There were no injuries but the truck was badly damaged.
