The music was hot but the weather was icy for the opening night of this year’s week-long Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Festival.

A crowd of about 300 hardy souls enjoyed the Eagels concert last Saturday night, even getting up to dance along to favourite songs.

Local country music singer Amber Goldsmith was the warm-up act, but even her talent wasn’t enough to knock the icicles off the crowd on an unexpectedly chilly evening at Blackbutt Showgrounds.

Member for Nanango Deb Frecklington officially open this year’s festival.

There are festival events scheduled throughout this week and a jam-packed weekend program ahead.

There’s events at the Blackbutt Showgrounds, on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail,  Blackbutt Library and Blackbutt Memorial Hall.

For more information, see the Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt website.

A free community shuttle bus will run between all venues every 15 minutes.

Yes, it was cold … but that didn’t stop everyone having lots of fun!

On Monday night, the South Burnett’s Tractor Tattoo festival drove into Blackbutt Library with the opening of the Bloomin Beautiful Blackbutt Festival’s “Butt Art and Friends of Cultcha Art Show”.

Supporting the Tractor Tattoo, paintings reflected the theme with a variety of artworks from water colours, acyrlic and oils.

But there can only be one winner with Dot Rowland taking home first prize with Tractor Show.

The BBBF art show is open at the Blackbutt Library from 8:30am–4:30pm every day this week.
