The 2012 Bloomin’ Beautiful Blackbutt Festival kick offs on Saturday night at the Blackbutt Showgrounds with a concert by “The Eagels”.

The Eagles tribute band – which drew a crowd of more than 650 when they played last year – will be supported by popular South Burnett performer Amber Goldsmith.

Gates open at 5:00pm and a licensed bar will be running.

Tickets cost $20 for adults or $15 for students and pensioners (under 13s are free).

They can be obtained in advance from the Blackbutt Visitor Information Centre in Hart Street, Blackbutt, but they’ll also be available at the gate.

Monday, September 3
7:00pm – Butt Art Bloomin’ Beautiful “ Tractor Tattoo” Art competition exhibition opening night presented by Friends of Cultcha Inc. Entertainment, light refreshments and local wine. Blackbutt Council Chambers, Hart Street Blackbutt. $8 at the door on the night.

Thursday, September 6
6:00pm – Bloomin Beautiful Burger night at the Blackbutt RSL. Phone (07) 4163-0383 for bookings.

Friday, September 7
7:30pm – Highlights of 20 years of Music Making with the Blackbutt Singers. Blackbutt Memorial Hall. Door proceeds to the proposed Aged Care facility.

Saturday, September 8
8:00am-3:00pm – Brisbane Valley Rail Trail Outdoor and Garden Expo,  Blackbutt Showgrounds and Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.  Horse and equine demonstrations and stalls. Sculptures on the trail competition, bird walks and free train rides along the trail. Garden in a pot competition, garden stalls and horsey demonstrations.

8:00am-4:00pm – Stanwell Kids Corner, Les Muller Park. Free children’s entertainment all day. Australian Reptile Animal show, Brisbane Philharmonic Orchestra Chamber Orchestra Cushion Kids, Rhythm Culture drumming workshops and performance, kids creative stalls and roving entertainment.

8:00am-4:00pm – Blackbutt Memorial Hall and common. Celebrating the agriculture, country and creative community of Blackbutt. Community Kitchen cooking demonstrations with Jason Ford, local produce wine and food tastings, local artist and country craft displays.

10:00am, noon and 2:00pm – High Tea in the Avocado and Honey Tearooms. Savour tantalising country gourmet specialties prepared with local produce and a free glass of bubbly on arrival. Also featuring Around the World in 80 Teapots Exhibition. Don’t forget to wear green to win great prizes. Bookings essential: $25 per person. 11:00am and 1:00pm – Community Kitchen with Jason Ford. Jason will showcase the best of healthy cooking featuring avocado and honey. Special guest chefs South Burnett Mayor Wayne Kratzmann and Deb Frecklington, MP Member for Nanango.

Sunday, September 9
7:00am – PCYC rail trail 31km Challenge – bring your running shoes or mountain bike. Registration at  Brisbane Valley Rail Trailhead. The marathon loops back to the start & finish at Blackbutt. The course sees you exploring the historic Timber Towns & scenic parts of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail, BNT & forestry tracks. ($40 includes lunch and goodies bag)

10:00am – Heart Foundation Benarkin and back – 8km walk to visit the sculptures on the trail. Depart from trail head. (Gold coin donation)

10:00am – South Burnett Trail Horse Riders Club  25km trail ride, departs from Showgrounds ($25 non members)

All these activities will be accessible to all with a free community shuttle bus between all venues running every 15 minutes.
