Organisers of this year’s Wondai Show are smiling … perfect spring weather, plenty of exhibitors and gate-takings up on last year. What more could you want?
Wondai AP&I secretary Liz Stewart told southburnett.com.au that although the takings were still being counted, it looked like more people had passed through the gate than last year.
“It all went very well indeed,” Liz said. “There was a festive atmosphere and people looked happy.
“Entries in the fruit and vegetables and farm produce were up.”
Liz said Miss Showgirl Kristen Wenck, who was crowned on Thursday evening, was “absolutely marvellous”.
Not only was she kept busy handing out sashes, but she led the Grand Parade on horseback.
Liz said the mechanical bull also was a lot of fun and proved popular.
Good crowds also turned out for the Wondai IGA Live Bucking Bull Bonanza which topped off the show on Saturday evening.
Liz said 12 months planning went into every Wondai Show, and the whole thing couldn’t happen without all the volunteers.
“It’s good to see it when everything comes together and everyone seems to be having a good time,” she said.
Unfortunately Show Society president Dennis Morris wasn’t able to see the results of all the preparation work as he was in hospital after being taken ill earlier in the week.
