Kingaroy State High School’s Concert Band bowed out of the 2012 Fanfare competition at the State finals held at the Old Museum in Brisbane last night.
The band, conducted by instrumental music teacher Matt Phillips, made it to the State Finals after winning the “Best Performance by a Secondary Ensemble” award in the Central Region competition.
They competed against 10 other ensembles from around Queensland last night in a bid to perform at the Grand Final which will be held at the Queensland Performing Arts Centre on Thursday night.
The five groups that will perform are: Varsity College Chamber Strings, Pimlico State High School Symphony Orchestra, Brisbane State High School Symphony Orchestra, Brisbane State High School Symphonic Band and Yeppoon State High School Concert Band.
