Eddie Aubrey and Alex Georgetown stunned onlookers when they dead heated in the 100m and 200m races for 10-year-old boys at Cherbourg State School sports day on Wednesday.

Principal Peter Sansby was excited by the number of parents and community members that came to watch the two-day carnival.

Events began after morning classes with sporting battles between the house teams of Freeman (yellow), Gilbert (black) and Blair (Red).

The preps battled it out with beanbag relays, egg and spoon races and ball games.

At the end of the day Freeman won with 117 points, followed by Gilbert on 105 and Blair on 99.

Off with a rush: Rondine Speedy, Jakada Gadd, Ayana Murray, Sasha Gyemore, Naomi Hopkins, Dameka Jacobs, Trista Fisher and Myrtelle Jerome take off in the 200 metres.
