Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that killed two women this afternoon at Booubyjan.
Initial information suggests that about 4:20pm, two vehicles collided on the Burnett Highway around 300m south of Goomeri-Gayndah Road.
A 20-year-old woman and a 21-year-old woman, both from Pittsworth, were pronounced dead at the scene.
A 41-year-old woman, a 13-year-old girl and an 11-year-old boy have been taken to hospital with minor injuries.
All were travelling in the same vehicle.
The 29-year-old driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
UPDATE August 20, 2012 – ABC News is reporting this morning that the women were basketballers returning after playing at Bundaberg in the Queensland Basketball League for the Toowoomba Mountaineers.
