Queensland Firebirds Chelsea Pitman and Amy Steel drew a big crowd when they came to Nanango on Sunday for a coaching clinic with members of the Wide Bay Regional Netball Academy Squad.

Chelsea and Amy, who play in the trans-Tasman ANZ Championship, shared stories and tips with the local players who will be representing the Wide Bay in a State competition in September.

The clinic coincided with the second round of the Wide Bay Regional Carnival so there were hundreds of young fans on hand to give them a big welcome.

The Nanango and District Netball Association hosted 29 teams from Bundaberg, Maryborough, Hervey Bay, Gayndah, Kingaroy and Nanango who competed in 11 years to 15 years age groups.

Round 1 of the carnival was held at Gayndah.
