The Queensland Fire and Rescue Service has warned there is a very high forest fire danger rating for today and tomorrow for residents in the North Coast region – particularly around Kingaroy, Gayndah and Monto.

Residents have been warned to be cautious and vigilant in the coming days.

There have been several fires in this region recently and firefighters are taking measures to prepare for more vegetation fires.

“People planning hazard reduction burns should re-evaluate their plans and speak directly with their fire warden first,” a QFRS spokesman said.

“Do not throw cigarette butts out of car windows and be careful when operating machinery in dry grassed areas.

“Residents should prepare their homes and properties. Now is a good time to download and finalise your bushfire survival plan.”

UPDATE: A fire burning this morning in Burnett Street at Nanango has been extinguished. Fire crews this afternoon put out a vegetation fire on the Chinchilla-Wondai Road at Durong.
